Rockabilly on the edge of its seat!

This is what the media has said about the Psycho DeVilles!

Music Insider's Barbara Fera, Issue #7,
"We all consider The Psycho Devilles to be precious and god's hidden gift to Atlanta." - Atlanta Journal Constitution, Music Insider section

Editor's Pick from Rockabilly Magazine (Issue #41, May/June 2008)

"Like I said last issue, sometimes I run into a band that I have never heard or seen live and get completely enamored. This happened again during SXSW here in Austin when I went and the band Psycho DeVilles. Not only is their music great, different, catchy, and aggressive, but they are all very genuinely nice guys. I love bands that don't have attitudes and don't act like the world owes them. These guys are great at their craft, know it, and don't need any agendas to show it."

Supercharger CD review in August 2008 Car Kulture Deluxe magazine
"Supercharger" is perfect for listeners in search of fast-actin', hard hittin' numbers that strike hard and strike often. There's something for every occasion here. "Thrills for sure" is a fast-paced rockabilly/punk hybrid that adds guitar splays to the stop and go action of 80s punk. "She left, she split" is a classic rockabilly tune with the usual ingredients- a woman walkin' away, a yelping lovelorn crooner and a happy ending. "Rebel" is the thump-thump-thump- song with classic rockabilly riffs and some down-home reverb that brings the listener a tight little package. "Supercharger" runs hot and heavy, with bass that will not be ignored, steely lyrics that decry high-speed thrills and reminds one of that special metal-in-your-mouth taste that comes from hittin' the danger zone and making the split-second decision to hit the gas when a sane man or woman would hit the brakes. "Roots rock" is a rocking number that brings in all the elements of classic rockabilly played by artists devoted to the sound and soul of the genre. And "I beg and I beg" brings a powerful, Johnny Cash tone and sweetly dour lyrics that ask, yet agian, a filly for forgiveness. Why do rockabilly singers have so many problems with women? CD Review from Performer Magazine-
"Nostalgia is clearly an obvious part of the allure of AtlantaÕs Pscyho DeVilles. Listening to the bandÕs sophomore release, Supercharger, one canÕt help but picture leather jackets, greased hair and fast machines speeding down fresh American asphalt. Its themes of thrills, fast cars, women and wild living make for an obvious counterpart to the albumÕs untamed but precisely played rock ÔnÕ roll. On the opener ÒThrills for Sure,Ó singer Hot Rod Walt belts out, ÒShout it loud / Keep it real hardcore,Ó setting the rollicking tone. The band follows up with a cavalcade of musical influences ranging from Carl Perkins on ÒRebelÓ and ÒBlameÓ to The Stray Cats on ÒShe Left She SplitÓ and Chris Isaak on ÒBeg and I Beg,Ó in which Steve BarnettÕs drums are perfect, the cadence sounding like men ordered around a marching field. Despite the precision and force of the military-style drumming, Hot Rod Walt doesnÕt spit fire and brimstone in his vocal delivery. Instead, his voice is smooth and sultry with just enough country twang to make it a cool mixture, like a rockabilly version of The Mighty Blue Kings. The foundation of the bandÕs sound is rockabilly, but sometimes youÕll find a dash of punk. Check out the crash and burn guitar playing on ÒSuperchargerÓ and ÒReal Deal.Ó And ÒRoots RockÓ - talk about a barnburner. If that number canÕt get people on their feet then nothing will. Like The Cramps, The Blasters or The Speed Kings, The Psycho DeVilles reach back into the feel of early rock ÔnÕ roll, bringing it back to the future for modern listeners to chew on. "Hot Rod Walt and the Psycho Devilles opened up with "Pipeline" before getting into their cars-and-girls originals, such as "Chopped Down and Hopped Up" and "Sweet 16." They played a mean "Hot Rod Lincoln" and then another original, "Now I'm Having Fun"
